A little bit of bluegrass
Lens: Sigma 18-250 HSM macro Camera: K-5

On our last trip we spent quite a bit of time in the Galax, Va area getting reacquainted with Bluegrass music. This small town is the heart of the Crooked Road - a 333 mile road that stretches across southern Virginia. We were lucky enough to attend several jam sessions, concerts, and radio shows.

This was a group from Texas at the Wayne Henderson Music Festival in Grayson Highlands SP

The director of the Blue Ridge Music Center, Erynn Marshall, and quite a fiddle player in her own right

Lots of clawhammer and three finger pickin' going on.

The three men who make up the Kruger Brothers. Jens, the banjo player is world renown and if you have never heard them play you should.
Joel Landsberg from New York

Jens Kruger from Switzerland (go figure, the brothers grew up on Doc Watson)

Uwe Kruger. Both brothers now live in the states and did manage to play with Doc before his death.

The guitars being played here were both made by Wayne Henderson. His guitars are highly prized and he only makes about 20 a year so the waiting list is a long one.

Just don't get caught Charlie; it is frowned upon in most venues.

All great pictures Susan, you sure got that "lingo" down. We have gone to a few festivals and enjoyed the different types of music, but I'll stick with rock.

I kept clicking on all the pictures and couldn't hear a thing. You shouldn't tease us this way Susan.

Tim, I could send you some literature on hearing aids if you think that would help.

I defy any listener to keep from tapping his toes when they hear it too Dave. It is really addictive.
