K20D 6400 iso sample
Posted By: benjikan, 03-20-2008, 08:34 AM

I love 6400 on the K20D. Some real creative possibilities. Compressed at 7/12 in PS unfortunately. Downsized a bit to get in under 1Mega.

This is a great high iso sample.... I like the noise... gives it a nostalgic, film-like feel.

The amount of fine detail is still pretty good for such a high ISO. I'll have to spend more time experimenting with mine.

I suggest you play with my PP method. It can really help.

Benjamin Kanarek post processing method | PentaxLife

Desaturating by 20 percent if you use two color layer can help. If One color one B&W layer use your eyes. It naturally desaturates. For high iso, do not sharpen to the extreme I stated. That is for 100-400 iso shooting. I suggest a maximum of 0.3 pixels at 80-100 percent if that. In Camera Raw, I sharpen between 25-40.

Looks like it does a great job at that high ISO. I'll just have to drool over everyone elses images for a while. The price is still a little steep for my budget.

I had only tested it on people shots, since that is what I shoot a lot of, and was not overly thrilled. This works very well for me. The grain adds to the image, not subtracts. Thanks, Ben!
