Stopped in Flight

Always called these "humming bird moths" Waited for a humming bird and he showed up.

Nice shot of a truly beautiful creature. There are two common clearwing moths in N. America: the Hummingbird Clearwing (Hemaris thysbe) and the Snowberry Clearwing (Hemaris diffinis). Leg colour is the best differentiator between the two, the Snowberry always having black legs. So yours is a Hummingbird Clearwing.

Thank you for the information. I took a lot of pictures of it to catch this one - it kept going to the other side of the flower and when I would move to get a better picture it would move back...

One thing I love about this site is the knowledge of everyone. There is nothing that is not known by someone.
