Going big and going small
Lens: DA 35, DA15, DA50-135 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Orick, CA ISO: 400

Took my kids for a mini-vacation up to the redwoods in Northern California. The old growth redwoods are something else. Seems hard to believe that we were that close of completely removing every one before conservation/preservation efforts carved out areas free from logging. This trip and others into amazing places, I'm reminded how grateful I should be that others before me had the foresight to create federal, state and regional parks. Here are a few images from the trip.

Thank you Dave. The tree canopies are really amazing. They are distant tufts and sooo green.

Hi daacon. the age and the size is definitely striking and in some respects difficult to wrap my brain around.

Hi C_R come to the west coast anytime. I'd have a beer or other adult beverage of your choice on ice waiting for ya.

Really nice...
That look from the ground up.. you see it often in forest shots, but with redwoods the great height of the trees takes the genre to a new level. It looks really magnificent.
