Immature Hummingbirds
Lens: DA*300 Camera: Pentax K-5IIs Photo Location: My yard in southwestern Ohio
Posted By: Bud, 07-22-2013, 08:08 PM

Adult Ruby-throated Hummingbirds have been scarce lately...but, there's been plenty of youngsters

This is my favorite new hummingbird plant...Salvia 'Amistad'...it's new in the U.S. this year, and very popular with the target audience

All shots hand-held with available light.

1/500s f/6.7 at 300.0mm iso1100

1/500s f/6.7 at 300.0mm iso560

1/500s f/6.7 at 300.0mm iso560

Agastache 'Acapulco Rose'
1/750s f/6.7 at 300.0mm iso1600

The big stretch...

Thanks for looking!

Bud

Beautiful shots! More than a lifetime's worth for me. Especially love #2 with the vivid color of the flower and clear background.

Really lovely captures. Can't believe you stopped the action at 1/500s. The colors in the second to last one of the bird's feathers is spot on.
