Yesterday, I attended "Show and Shine", an event sponsored by the local region of the Porsche Club of America and held at the West Ave complex on Kirby in Houston - a decidedly upmarket area composed of high-rise apartments and swanky shops that formed a concrete valley in which the cars were exhibited. The photography was a bit challenging, in part because I wasn't in the "groove" but also because the cars were parked closely spaced and thus difficult to isolate. This was not a typical concours, but rather owners simply shined up their cars and competed for best car, best paint and best wheels - all decided by votes from attendees. I didn't bring my Boxster; there was rain about, and I'm pretty sure there's something in the owner's manual about not subjecting a Porsche to rain water during the break-in period .

Perhaps the most interesting car (to me) at the affair is the early '90s, 964 series 911 Turbo pictured here. This car is immaculate - a true classic and brutally fast, even by contemporary standards.

There were at least 50 cars displayed, so I took a number of frames, some of which I'll post here and elsewhere a bit later.

Well done photo of a beautiful car.

I've been a fan of the Porsche 911 since I was teenager. I still recall first reading about the Porsche (that's pronounced...Por...shaa ) in Road & Track magazine.....back I believe in 1963....when and correct me if I'm wrong...when the Porsche 911 first entered the world.

Truly a timeless design.

Beautiful shot Jer.

Can't say I'm a big fan of the tail however. They always remind be of the trays they used to hang on your window at the drive in.

Thanks, Bud. As I mentioned above, the photographic portion of my brain wasn't in gear (to coin a phrase) Sunday . Also, I didn't notice that I'd left the exposure comp at -0.5 and thus underexposed all 65 shots I made . I was able to pull a few to keep.

Your memory is perfect - Porsche is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 911 this year.

Thanks much, Tom. I guess that thing could double for a snack tray or bar during tail gating.
