I wd have focussed in on just the yellow sunflower head even closer.

I agree the first is a bit busy, but I love all the colors. It shows the color rendering of the lens. And like my FA50, if the subject is busy it seems to focus where ever it chooses. haha
You might used a smaller aperture for bit more focus on all the flowers, or even opened it all the way up and focused on just one and let the other colors blur.

But the second shot is cool, again nice colors and the OOF area is smooth.

While it isn't near as good as the one you posted, is this closer to what you were talking about?

Same image tighter crop

Thanks I see what you all mean. The red/orange flower just gets in the way.

I really like the 2nd shot. Almost has a 3D quality to it.
