Here are some shots of what I think is a mid-'50s Porsche 356A taken at a Porsche Club gathering in Houston on Sunday. I couldn't resist converting one to B&W for a '50s feel.

Something very timeless about the 356 design. I had a 356 b super 90 that I wish I'd held onto.

Timeless design Jer, love these photos, have you ever thought about adding one to your stable.

It is timeless; I envy you for your experience with the 356B.

Hey thanks, buddy. That'd be a pretty pricy addition, brother Bob - car collecting requires a financial and physical commitment that I'm not willing to make, but I sure enjoy seeing beautifully restored, rare cars like this one.

Jer, notice no front plate. It does have the original CA black and yellow plate, that is cool for sure. Yeah it is better just to "share" others classics I think.

The frame around the license plate is for a famous Porsche dealer, Vasek Polak.

Yeah, buddy. It's like boats: better to have a friend who owns one than own one yourself. I think of that every time I write a check for a bottom job, dock rental, repairs . . . . . . .

Very interesting - the name meant nothing to me but should have; a couple of the Porsche histories that are on my book shelf mention the man several times, particularly regarding his racing activities. I did a quick web search and found that he was also a generous philanthropist and - unfortunately - died from injuries sustained in an Autobahn crash.
