I like them all! The spider's almost abstract, on the pale background. Wonderful detail in the dragonfly's wing. Are you using a flash?

Thank you Julie.
Yes, I am using an external flash, the Pentax AF-360fgz equipped with a Pocket bouncer from Lumiquest to diffuse and redirect the light.

Beautiful work on the dragonfly- it's amazing how much detail you got there!

How close were you holding the lens? Whenever I try taking a pic of an insect, it just flies away (usually)

Hi Mo.

I don't remember exactly, I would say I was probably about a couple inches away, it's very close with a 100mm!
They always fly away with me too, I'm just very stubborn!

Gotta love those jumping spiders...

Hi Mike!

I agree with Mo - the detail on the dragonfy image is fantastic. The first fly is really, really small, right? Very nice capture on that one, too.

But I really like the spider the best. Those little jumping spiders are fun, aren't they? I like how they stand up and spin around to always face you when you get close to them. Skittish little things.

I know! They are so funny!! each time my flash would go off, he would spin around quickly, then move his 2 little arms ( I don't know what they are) just under his eyes, up and down very fast.... like he was telling me off... I was laughing so hard...

Now I hope the fall will bring some new bugs...
