Easter Birds
Posted By: maxwell1295, 03-22-2008, 05:08 PM

Shot these with the Super Tak 105mm/F2.8. I'm pretty these were all shot at F8. Even so, I still managed to blow out highlights in all 5 pics...

Nice photos Max, and that first one is a standout, at least you got the angle of the light perfectly, if a fraction overexposed in the highlights -- not a great deal you can do about dynamic range. The second duck is the cutest (although I will admit to a strong preference for Peking Duck!).

nice pix maxwell! did you use the Manual Mode + AE-L and if you did, did you try to make any adjustments to the suggested reading?

Yes, I did shoot these in Manual + AE-L. I'm pretty sure they were shot at F11.

My first few pics were a bit underexposed at F16, so I decided to open up rather than slow the shutter any more.

Added note: What I've found is leaving the camera in Av mode allows these lenses to function pretty much like 'A' lenses. Aperture doesn't show up in the EXIF data, but the lense is metered by the camera when you use the aperture ring to stop down manually. I just have to set the Ev comp to +1.7 and fire away.
