Black Chinned Hummingbird
Lens: Sigma 50-500 Camera: Pentax K5 Photo Location: Boardman, OR USA ISO: 3200 Shutter Speed: 1/750s Aperture: F6.7

This was taken yesterday afternoon when this Black Chinned Hummingbird landed in my Blue Spruce tree.

lens is the Sigma 50-500 with a 1.4x teleconverter for 750mm focal length. 1/800th of a second hand held shot.

Thank you Sandpipe. I tend to shoot the camera like I would a rifle (deep breath, release half, release the other half as I squeeze the shutter release).

Those little creatures Dave are pleasurable to shoot.I find them pretty friendly and they will let you get close.This shot was taken less than 2 ft. away of a female ruby throated hummingbird.--charliezap

very nice Charlie. What focal length? I am going to go play with my Sigma 180mm macro f3.5 I think tonight and stand by the feeders. I had one hovering a foot in front of my face Sunday.

Hi Dave-Here's the link to the thread I posted yesterday. It has the info that you're looking for.I just got through shooting some today with tripod--100mm Pentax Macro- and remote shutter from 2ft distance at 100 ISO.I should have those posted later.--charliezap
