Mud Mania

The historic Rancho Los Cerritos had a Mud Mania day. Overflow parking was down the road. It happened to be surrounded (literally) by a golf course.

Getting close.

The entrance sign.

The actual building was closed - don't want a bunch of muddy kids running through it...

Pottery throwing.

Some creations of the younger kids.

Multi-tasking.

A direct hit.

Finesse did not work so well.

Rock painting.

Face painting.

Stamp drawing.

Turtle making - almost done.

Head-band making.

Turtle petting.

Like father...

Like son.

Mud building.

Whitewashing gear and instructions.

Mud and kids.

Washing up.

Bucket of mud.

Whitewashing in action. Not very white...

More mud and kids.

Bugs.

Bearded dragon.

Some people pan for gold. This boy, for worms.

Palm print - print not shown.

Turtles in the making.

Looks simple to start.

Then everyone want to lend a hand...

Looking closer at a bug.

They emit a foul-tasting (we're told) yellow goo when scared. The worm, that is.

Snake painting.

Agates, maybe.

The band, a little out of focus.

Starting fresh.

Bugs and kids.

I'm not sure what was down there.

Drying rock paintings.

Painting rocks.

Archeology in action.

Cactus.

I have no idea what this was about.

I will have to return on a regular museum day.

Well, I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it was local, and fun.
