Macro - Raw Therapee
Posted By: garth1948, 03-23-2008, 04:56 AM

Tried my Tamron 18-200 at the macro end outdoors today.
Raw Therapee reproduced the soft velvet look of the flower where SilkyPix and Lightzone tended to turn the colour orange and flatten the flower's texture.
I may be a convert to raw if this keeps up.
Garth

Nice colors and composition, but looks a bit out of focus though.

cheers

Macro - Raw Therapee

Reduced FOV to object of focus.
Not sure about the composition now.

Beautiful color Garth. I switched to RAW about 6 months ago. I had always been intimidated by it, mostly because I didn't like the way Silkypix worked. When I started using a good Raw editor, it opened a whole new world to me. I'm sure it will for you too.

Sharp and colors are great. Focus looks ok to me. Invest in some external storage for raw shotting - they add up quick !

Really nice color, Garth. I agree that Raw Therapee seems to offer some advantages over other raw converters. I've had difficulty warming up to the user interface though, and have gone back to UFRaw because of that. I think the next major version of RawTherapee (3.0?) is supposed to have a completely revamped user interface, so I'm awaiting anxiously.

nice picture, but i agree the flower could be focused on a bit sharper

i tried to use Rawtherapee and like it but, i thought Silkypix and Lightroom did a better job with colours, esp some instances w/ white balance where i couldn't correct a very blue cast and i found it inordinately slow on my relatively slow system
