Happy Easter and a photo question
Posted By: vievetrick, 03-23-2008, 04:16 PM

OKay first Happy Easter to all the celebrate it. Here is a shot of the family. Me included (rare) taken by my sister inlaw.

Now a question. I hate asking stupid question I should know the answers to. I have been doing this awhile and should. So the question. My son as you can see is out of focus. Me the wife and daughter good to go. Is it just that he is a few inches foward and a lower F stop would have helped? Or an issue with the lens. I feel like I am having this issue hit or miss with group shots. Some all in focus others just out.

My opinion is that it is a F stop issue. I have that problem sometimes when I pick up the camera and look at exposure and shot but forget to look at the F stop, especially when indoors.

Great family photo. I think it is the F stop also. I tried to check the Exif, but it was stripped when you posted. Happy Easter to you land your family.

I think it is an Fstop issue as well. I am still worried a bit as this is with the FA 50mm and seriously think it has a front focus issue. Or I am paranoid. here is the Exif info:

Exposure Time 1/60 sec
F-Number F2.4
Exposure Program Program normal
ISO Speed Ratings 100
Focal Length 50.0 mm
Flash fired

I can't see the photo, but I suspect it's just good old fashinoned shallow DOF. Really just basic stuff you need to always be aware of. If I'm doing a group shot, I try to keep it around f/5.6 (or more) depending on the focal length and distance from the subject.

I would never think to do a group photo at f/2.4 (unless I'm like 100 feet away )
