New Old lens
Posted By: dws1117, 03-25-2008, 02:35 PM

Went to pick up a new camera bag and a lens followed me home as well. It's and old Sears 135mm f/2.8 Macro. I couldn't pass it up for $15 US. The excuse for the wife is that the new bag had an extra lens hole than needed filling.

It's not bad. It's not as sharp as others and it seems to have an issue with purple fringing, but there is nothing to complain about for what it cost. Another plus is that it's manual. It if forcing me to learn and get better with manual focus. Last thing is that this thing is heavy.

Here's a couple of my first attempts with the new toy.

The last one is beautiful. Nice colors and bokeh. I love playing around with the old manual lenses, especially the primes.

That last shot is super. I was looking at the same lens on Ebay, I think it went for about the same price plus shipping of course. I was a little leary because I have read that some have a pin that can get stuck in the body of the camera when you mount the lens. I think it's called a Ricoh pin. Looks like yours works fine.

I agree, the second shot is beautiful, well worth $15, I'd say:-).

Doesn't appear to have any pin on the mount.

I agree. Well worth $15.

Thanks everyone. Here are a couple more as I continue playing.

My least favorite. Admittedly I have difficulty photographing this flower with any of my lenses.

And a stink bug.

That is a really cheap lens.
The pictures look really good for $15.
Like the previous poster said I heard about
something like Ricoh pin.
