Well, I think it's well established now that that was the decade in which I had any chance of being "hip"....nowadays, I'm just "sad"

Well, no - sadly. They make SLR look-alike's (relatively nice ones, too).

And possibly demonstrate not being hip by using the word hip. I don't think I was ever hip. Tried a bit in the early 80's.

I've been thinking of buying an Olympus tough camera - I've used Olympus compact cameras in the past and was impressed with the results. My uncle had an OM2 with which he took a photo of his house by moonlight. Amazing analogue technology.

The OM series (single digit) and the Zuiko lenses were great. I came from that world, and absolutely loved it. I do not really know much about their new DSLR-look-alikes, other than that they have gotten good reviews...they came out more than a decade too late, and I had jumped to Pentax.
