Moraine Lake
Lens: DA* 16-50 Camera: K5 iis Photo Location: Banff National Park

We got away last weekend for 2 days and 3 nights in the Canadian Rockies. Arrived Friday night. Partied a little too much for a sunrise shot on Saturday. None the less we spent Saturday out and about.

First stop was Moraine Lake (near Lake Louise). The valley of the 10 peaks. This used to be the picture on back of the old Canadian $10.00 bill.

Unfortunate it was quite hazy out. Not sure there were some recent forest fires (some road signs indicated so). Really took the details out of the mountains.

Weather on the other hand was unbelievable for this time of year. Mid to high 20's both days. In fact this was the first time ever we have been here and my wife never once put on a light jacket or sweater. Great last weekend of summer.

#1 - a quick look at an adjacent peak

#5 - The end of one of the trails that lead to the back and a pretty rocky area.

#6 - You can always rent canoes for a nice ride.

#7 - The top of this rock pile is where the first few shots were taken from. Yes there is a very navigable path up here on the other side. If you click on the larger size you can see people up there.

#8 - Lots of logs - can really see evidence of the haze here.

Thanks Bob indeed you are correct - the blue green waters are beautiful. This lake does not stay open very long - thaws in late June and will be starting to freeze pretty quick ......

I think the haze contributes to the mood. The third one and the canoes are just fantastic images, deserving to be hung on a wall.

Lovely shots, top to bottom. We used to drive out that way when I lived in the Warbourgh area. Never tired of the views.

Thanks bdery I suppose I still would have prefered crisp and clear.

Thanks Jim - you'll be happy to know there is an actual Trail in the back that was made to let people walk up there. Unlike the death defying attempt we made from the front when we were last there
