+1 Macro Filter installed ^

+2 Macro filter = Yeah , got a funny haze going on ( lens might be iffy )

+4 Macro Filter = This is more like it ...

+4 Macro Filter = Yeah the +4 works for me ....

Might see about a +5 or +6 or maybe a +8

Only PP here was cropping and re-sizing , nothing else ...

Last one looks good. The 1 and 2 looks like you missed the focus on them. But if you stack all three you'll get more magnification. That's what I do with mine. And sometimes, I switch them from 1, 2, and 4, stacking them 4, 2, 1.

+2

All the +2 images were funky ( maybe the focus was affected ? )

+4 were the best over all .. Yeah stacking , hmmm , Id rather buy a single +6 or +8 ... Especially as the +2 filter might be wonky ...

I like the idea of a walking lens , and simply screwing on a filter for better ( closer ) macro ...

I put some lenses on Ebay , will see if I can trade up to a Tamron 90mm 1:1 or Sigma 105mm 1:1

Well, if 2 is hazy, you might try cleaning it with some rubbing alcohol on a clean lint free cloth. Then you could stack all three and get 7. But they are not as good as a 1:1 macro lens. I have those same types of filters you have and have done macro photos on the Pentax 18-55mm lens and also on a Pentax 50mm lens. But now I own a Tamron SP 90mm 1:1 lens. It's not AF but it still does the job. I bought mine for $139 on Adorama a month ago.

Also a tip about shooting bugs in general. Try to get them facing you. Most good macros show the eyes.

Some good advice here - I agree on the +4 shot.
