This was in a hotel parking lot, where I pulled in as the sun was getting pretty low in the horizon.

Thanks basquist!

I didn't do much in the processing to get this effect, other than burning the background and applying a bit of blur. I think the main reason for the contrast is the use of f/22 in manual mode with my flash. At that aperture, light falls off pretty quickly, so the flower that's closest really looks a lot brighter than those just a foot or two behind it. In reality there wasn't a huge difference in available light between foreground and background.
