Worse.

Mirror flop. Mirror up for about 10 seconds. Black frame. Single autofocus click and slight darkening of viewfinder but no shutter reaction. Battery depleted message and symbol. Pulled and replaced battery. Got a few more shots, then nothing. Battery depleted message and symbol. Turn off, turn on. Full battery symbol, AF fine, exposure values, etc. Push button. Nothing. Battery depleted message and symbol. Repeated that a few times, even with other battery at home.

Got it May 2011, I think. The mirror flop is the main circuit board from what I've read. A couple hundred $ at least. I just ordered a new regular K-5. This seemed to be the cheapest "new" option. Will get old one repaired some day, and sell the K-20, so I will have 2 identical bodies, at least. I did browse Canon-mount lenses that looked quite tempting - and quite expensive to jump to :-)

Really sorry about your camera. It's the aperture control unit that goes bad, and it costs around 1/3 to 2/3 of the camera's value to fix.

Good thing you just got another camera, because Ricoh's moving stuff around, and some camera/lens repairs have been delayed for months, waiting on parts that don't seem to be coming any time soon.

But let's talk about cars! I'm curious about that mint-green one in pictures 5 thru 8. Any idea what model that is? I'm assuming it drops that low only when parked? Otherwise, I don't see how they could drive on anything but a polished garage floor.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Barbie driving that pink Corvette.

Yeah I like the regular K-5 enough to get another new one for $650. Next time, not so sure :-)

1936 Auburn Boat Tail. I don't know about the ride height. I assume it's lifted for running. I want it :-)

If you hover over an image, the description is in the file name after the date if I know what it is (and the year is last).

May 2011?
So you should still be able to repair under the extended warranty that you bought ,right?

Dang, I knew I forgot something...is it too late?

The funny thing is I had no mirror flop for almost 2 years, until after reading about it several months ago...

all the boat tails were awesome autos, a design ahead of the time I guess. Nice shots Kyle, love the '58 Vette even if it isn't original.
