An unusual insect

Anyone recognise this beast ? It was just on the pavement in front of me. I think is it was 15ft tall it would be a dead ringer for an arachnid from the film Starship Troopers. It has the look of a praying mantis but it sure is not one.

It's a praying mantis nymph; depending on which actual mantis species it is, the wings will grow larger witch each moult, until it's an adult.

Thank you for that OJ, I often come across unusual insects but most are not as colourful as this.
