A few testshots with Sigma 10-20 (5 pics)
Posted By: tcom, 03-29-2008, 09:31 AM

Yesterday, in my usual photo store, I saw a Sigma 10-20 lens, in Pentax mount, I could not resist. Here are a few test shots:

1
K20D, Sigma 10-20, 1/400s f/8.0 at 10.0mm iso100

2
K20D, Sigma 10-20, 1/640s f/9.0 at 13.0mm iso200

3
K20D, Sigma 10-20, 1/200s f/11.0 at 12.0mm iso100

4
K20D, Sigma 10-20, 1/500s f/10.0 at 15.0mm iso200

5
K20D, Sigma 10-20, 1/800s f/8.0 at 10.0mm iso200

These photos were taken in JPG and post processing was very limited.

Comments and critiques are as always welcome.

Hi Dominique.

I was quite surprised that you got sigma 10-20 since you already owned Da* 16-50mm!

Your landscape shots are always a feast to view through. I wonder how you compare the colour and contrast from sigma 10-20 to Da* 16-50?
Hi Roentarre

There is a huge difference in angle of view between 10 and 16. Having one lens does not exclude the other.

I have not done any comparison shot yet between both lenses.

This are great photos. A sense of familiarity struck me as soon as I saw the first picture. By the time I got to the last one I knew I have been there (I actually have a couple of pictures of the fork in the lake). We were driving from Gruyere to Geneve when we stoped in town for some pictures. Along the way there were many times that I wished we could have stop to take pictures of the vineyards against the lake. You certainly got the some of the pictures I wish I had taken,

Here is one more shot, to check the bokeh of the lens:

I am not surprised, I have both too, in this range the difference between 10mm and 16mm is huge!

Beautif shots from you as always and a stunning area you live in. the lens looks great and the bokeh in the flower shot is pretty good for a zoom.

You need to spend some time down around that fork in the lake before it's gone. I can imagine a tone of great shots from that alone. 6AM with mist rising from the water as the sun begins to appear.....

I am like gawan. One does not have to choose between the 10-20 and the 16-50 because of the overlaping zoom range. But 10 and 16mm is really a huge difference.

Thank you Peter. That might be an idea for the fork, I will have to try that out, once better weather is expected...
