Glade Creek Grist Mill

Summerville Lake

The rapids. If you have never gone white water rafting this is not the river to start on. Cured me of ever doing it again. Kayakers come from all over the world to run these rapids when water is released from the dam. The tent in the distance houses a photographer taking shots of people as they navigate one of the many Class VI rapids on this river.

Finally a few shots of Sandstone Falls.

Really love the grist mill photo, such great colors. What a great place to spend time Susan, but I'd stay away from that water I think.

Thanks Bob. The mill belongs to a state park in WV. West Virginia is a well kept secret as far as beautiful areas go. Not to far for us so we will be going back.

Very nice series! The Mill is a beautiful shot... very artistic. The water in all of these is excellent. I especially like the second last. Very nice indeed!!

Beautiful series!! I've done the Gualey twice, upper and lower! Very thrilling and fun. The lower is a little easier than the upper.

Beautiful spot, and I'll echo the praise for your shot of the mill. So where are the shots of your being cured of a desire to challenge Class VI rapids?

Thanks Tess. I still have trouble with water but learn from each shot.

My son and I went in October during one of their water releases. Started on the lower then did the upper the next day. It was 20 degrees out and the water was warmer than the ambient temperature. I was terrified the whole time not to mention mostly an icicle. Swore off white water rafting after that but did do the Chatooga (wimpy river.)

Thanks so much. I actually do have a couple of shots of that trip but you don't see anything but my oar and a bit of my hard hat. The rest of me is under water. Very flattering.
