Great series. Beautiful classic sunset. The two sea bird shots are great and well capture/exposed. What are they anyway? Nice lighthouse but a touch overexposed on the left side. I might have spot metered that place and not worried about the rest of the shot.

Love the duck shot. Sharp and well captured. The viewer feels like he/she is right on top of the bird. I like how the duck is isolated from the background. Nice limeted DOF. Maybe a touch over sharpened though. The water drops are great but they have those little halos

Thanks everyone for the kind comments.

Peter - I think the birds are called laughing gulls. The mallard shot was mostly luck and taken in haste. As you said... I was actually right on top of the duck as it took off. I spooked two mallards as I walked by them. I only had my Tamron 18-75mm with me at the time. The only thing I would have liked to do diferent was to have taken this in RAW. I was shooting in JPEG at the time. As you can see I did a major crop to get the shot I posted. I didnt even see the water drops until after it was cropped. The original is below.

wow I'm impressed you could crop that image (especially as a Jpeg) that much and still have a shot that looked that good. That Tamron lives up to it's reputation well.

Thanks for the comment. The gull shot was actually really easy. We were on a ferry boat ride to Ocracoke Island, NC and some guy at the back of the boat was tossing the gulls some crackers. I'll post a few more from that series in another thread
