A Family History of Moving Pictures

OK, it's not a great photo, but it's a little bit of history. Starting with my father's Super-8 movie camera, then Dad's Betamovie video camera which recorded a mere 200 lines of resolution but was the world's first all-in-one camcorder, to the Sony miniDV camcorder I bought in 2002 which recorded 500 lines of resolution, to the Sanyo and Panasonic full HD camcorders I bought in about 2011. The Panasonic also records surround sound and with an adapter, 3D video. Plus the camera which isn't to be seen - the K5iis which I used to take the photo, that can also record HD video.

Hmm... I might try the photo again using a sheet for a backdrop.

quite a historical collection there Rob, that Betamovie is a real collectable I bet. Amazing how much these new cameras can do compared to the past

Thanks Bob! I'm actually wondering if the Film and Sound Archive have a collection of video cameras. It would be nice to be able to contribute something to their collection. Yes, it's amazing how good camcorders have become - although one thing I have found is that the HD video tends to show up the slightest hand shake far more than the older cameras did. In that respect, the resolution is a bad thing!
