viewing the South Rim
Lens: 43mm/18-250mm Camera: K5/Kx Photo Location: Grand Canyon AZ

We left Colorado and headed back to Nevada, so we stopped in to Williams AZ for a couple of days to make a trip to the canyon. We were fortunate and had a very clear day, very cold for us though as nights are getting into the teens. The clear crisp day seemed to bring out more color in the sandstone, a few fluffy clouds floated by later giving a different feel to the photos. One of these days we will visit after a snow storm, I think that would be the ultimate photo session to have snow in the canyon, we will stop again next year and take another look.

We have our reservations there for next year and I can't wait. These made me wish the time moved a little faster.

Great set, buddy. I dig the 3-D feel of the fifth photo. Super job, super subject.

We are getting our reservations set for different areas also Susan, we will probably go back up to Durango area after spending the summer in Colorado, maybe we will see you on the road. Will be back at the canyon in September the way it looks.

Nice ones Bob. I also took some shots from some of the same exact vantage points as you a few years ago! Definitely a different look & color than what we saw during summer. Great 3d feel on some of these. Thanks for sharing!

The canyon seems more colorful due to the cold or crisp air Paul, might just be me, not really sure but we always enjoy the view. Hope all is going well in Texas, I know there has been lots of flooding in certain areas, but guess not in the drought stricken parts, take care. Bob

thanks my friend, this is one of the most difficult locations to photograph I think so anything said positive about the photos is good news to me.

I think I read somewhere that there's several weather factors that influence Grand Canyon images.

Some of them being the wind direction bringing in smog from LA, LV and/or PHX. Also as the humidity of the monsoon season dissipates, the natural
diffraction of the water vapor in the air lessens.

I've noticed we get great sunsets/sunrises during monsoon season but during the winter, they can be pretty bland. I wonder if that's related.

Thanks for posting these great shots of a magnificent landscape Bob!
I've travelled to the US at least 30 times but never made it to the Canyon ... but one of these days hopefully!
Take care
