This was the view from my front yard Sunday night early Monday morning. All I really remember is standing outside freezing me butt off having a smoke watching the northerns dance when it dawned on me to take some photos before they disappeared.

Are you kidding me Bas, man that is just plain awesome. I would expect UFO's touching down. What an experience to see in person, I get to see fog once in a while. Great shots!

I hope to make it up there one day. I just looked up your town on google. I thought you could only see northern lights in places a lot more to the North than yours. I had no idea Edmonton was on the list. Do they get these in Calgary as well?

We can occasionally see them here, 30 air miles North of the 49th parallel. The big hangup here is that we are in a NW/SE valley which limits our view.

Interesting, I am originally from Europe, and from exactly the same latitude. No way we have any of that there… Sweden maybe.

Yes people in Calgary can see the Northern Lights as well, but they need to get out of the city to really appreciate them( to much light pollution). AS for me I am 45 minutes NW of Edmonton with very little to no light pollution ...Bas

Thanks Dave. It was pretty amazing the lights were just there not doing much and then they started to dance around and after a few minutes I thought I should grap my camera and setup. Luckly they we're still dancing when I got back out...Bas
