Pentax does golf
Posted By: rfortson, 04-02-2008, 10:08 AM

Yesterday at the Shell Houston Open was a practice round. Admission was free and camera gear was allowed (not allowed during the tournament). The weather was drizzly so I got to test the weather seals on my K20D and DA*200. I got a few shots, but not of any "name" golfer. The ones out were the people that really needed to be practicing in the rain.

Anyway, here are a couple of quick shots from yesterday.

Very very nice!! Put the gear through its paces. I am volunteering for the Wachovia open and have full week passes as a result, but I wont be able to go as I will be laid up for a while.

Being an avid golfer, this one is right up my alley. The 2nd shot is as good as it gets.....well done.

Thanks for all the comments. I wish the weather had been nicer. Now, to answer some of the comments/questions:

- Tiger wasn't slated for this tournament. Phil Mickelson was the biggest "name" scheduled, but I didn't see him.

- The putters were on the practice green. My thought was that the manufacturer(s) had them there for the players to try out.

- Too bad you can't make the Wachovia, Buddha. Golf is a fun thing to photograph, especially during the practice rounds when there aren't any crowds.

Hey Russ,

You not going to get caught up in that big Lay Off at NASA, I hope.

Both great shots. The second had great colour, framing and sharpness.

Love the shots. #2 Looks just like me off the Tee - except my tee would have been shattered and my field of vision may have been adjusted to the left or right for my pull or overcorrection slice! - That second shot could be a Golf Magazine cover!

I just got back from hitting golf balls I like both of these but, personally, I think the golfer gets a little lost in the colourful background.

I take shots of my Da all the time. He's even put one of the pics I took on his wall (a shot out of a bunker). Shame you can't take pics during the tournament. Damn media and their publishing rights
