A nordic hiking&fishing trip
Lens: DA*16-50 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Bieddjuvag'gi, Norway
Posted By: Fries, 11-18-2013, 05:38 PM

I recently went with a fine comb trough my photo argives for a short lecture on photography at my fly fishing club and discovered I left some gems 'unmolested' by my post production skills from my first of two hiking and fishing trips to Northern Norway. And there were some that could do with some extra tweaking with my updated plug ins and skills. And there are some photo's I didn't share on this forum yet. I hope you enjoy this series just like I enjoyed the beautiful landscape of this area. (If everything pans out ok next year I'll be trekking trough this part of Finnmark again.)

Cheers,

Remco

Remco, this land reminds me of some of High Desert areas we visit, not a lot of trees but wide open beautiful landscapes. I bet you like to get away from it all and recharge your inner soul on these trips. Lovely series, I enjoyed the views.

A great series of images. Like them all. 2,3, 6 and 9 really stand out for me though. Thanks for sharing this lovely area.

Thanks! Bob, there is bit to much water and swamp to be an exact copy of the highlands you love but you certainly got a point.

I agree with them, thanks for digging these out of the archives for us! I really like #5, and #7 makes me hungry.

Dave, thanks for your praise! And Ian, thank you to. I'm afraid I'm not somebody who eats fish a lot (haven't been brought up with it) but this was quite enjoyable. The char (røya in Norwegian) is supposed to be one the best fresh water eating fish there is. And since I'm planning to take a bit less food with me in the mountains next year and have to supplement it with whatever I can catch with my fly rod I should try to improve on my fish cooking and eating skills.

Wow, what a series and what a powerful experience it must have been! The fishing was good, I take it.

Remco, these are fabulous! The panorama is amazing… they are all amazing. We have a very similar solo tent that weighs 2 pounds. Was this a solo trip?

Great landscape shots, looks very similar to the type of countryside we have here too.

Fabulous stuff, Remco. I'm particularly taken with number 3 - but they're all terrific.

Thanks Dave and I'm afraid the fishing wasn't that good in the river. I should have gone to some lakes but I was to lazy after carrying my gear (about 27 kg) to this place and only did day trips with al light pack. Photography also was a distraction that proved stronger than my urge to make my fly fishing adventures I dreamed up before the trip come true.

Thanks Tess! Almost al my mountain trips are solo trips. This is al two persons tent because I like some room when the weather isn't that good. I even had the luxury of a tarp! This tent is about 1.7 kg I guess.

Thanks! I think i read somewhere that Scotland and Norway once (a very, very long time ago) were linked together as a land mass.

Jer, thank you! The fence in that third photo is to keep the reindeer in this area. There was a winter Sami (Lappish) camp just on the other side of the river where I stayed most of the time with a coral and lots of reindeer bones...
