Walking in a winter wonderland
Posted By: daacon, 11-19-2013, 01:32 PM

Last week I could have racked some leaves from the front yard (most of the initial snow had melted). The last few days winter has put her foot down she's here for a while. Don't mind the snow , it's the dipping temperatures but looking good for the weekend so there's hope !

On Thursday last week there was no snow bank , before we walk we have to shovel

#2 The main roads are ok slow traffic (luckily I don't have to experience that) off ramps are pure ice. In fact I head a great comparison today the traffic in Edmonton is slower than the Oilers rebuild ouch !

But winter is not without it's beauty - if you want to see some of Alberta go to youtube and look up 'remember to breathe Alberta" Some great video commercials for all seasons.

#3 Next two are just some local walkways across the street from us.

Really beautiful and horrific photos! Snow is coming for us Thursday, but not that much. That's just mean!
Thanks Joel , it's inevitable for sure.

the snow really does add to the beauty of the land, the temps must warm up a bit to melt off last weeks snow. I see you have your priorities clearing off an area to shoot some hoops. thanks buddy for sharing this thing you call "snow".
ha indeed Bob with the kids gone I don't shoot much anymore - but there many a game of 21 and some one on one over the years ...

That's beautiful, Dave! Cooled me off good.
You beat me to it! You failed to mention the 60% chance of rain we have on Friday, though. I think I was on vacation the last time it sprinkled here... a month ago.
Well thanks Ian glad I could offer some relief from the heat

Greate pics! I miss the real snow winter here.
Thanks pavpen - this is about as real as it gets. I do love the winter season - just not a fan on those days it drops below -20C. -3 expected on the weekend looking forward to that !

Hi Daacon
You are so lucky to have all this snow, where I live we never get even one flake of the stuff.
Snow seasons have an attraction all their own. I can just imagine coming home from a walk
in the snow and then settle down in front of an open fire place with a glass of Gluehwein.
Your pictures give me this feeling. Thanks.
Greetings
Thanks Schraubstock I do love all 4 seasons we get here , each offer their own magic.

Beautiful photos, but I'm glad we don't have that yet in the Twin Cities (MN). I'm enjoying the warmer than normal November so far. Supposed to get maybe an inch on Thursday.
Thanks gblade - we had a great late October and early November , then mother nature said hey wait a minute .........

I should be sending more your way soon, Dave. Bought gas for the snowblower today.
Jack
hah thanks I think ? I did look at a snowblower this year at Costco - but I don't mind shoveling and it's a relatively small area. Maybe next year (several neighbors have one in the event of a major dump)

Well Tess hate to keep all here. The average November snowfall in the Edmonton area is aroun 18cm. If we get that 20cm that is expected over the next 24 hours or so that will make for a total of 60+cm so far and there's more days left.

Looks like you need to join the Canadian Snowbird Association, Dave. You know, Phoenix is a popular destination. No beaches, but plenty of sand.
