Yesterday at the dog park
Lens: Vivitar 13mm, Sigma 30mm Camera: K-5 IIs Photo Location: Tempe

We're moving into the best time of the year for the dog park, where the sun is setting just as everybody's getting there after work. The lighting's almost always perfect. I was pretty happy with my pictures from yesterday, so I thought I'd share some.

I love mutts.

This one's a min pin, I think. A chubby one.

This is Bhodi, one of the regulars. In the background is Puppy, a chihuahua mix that humps anything and everything.

...and the "cute" award goes to:

Jack the poodle is also a regular.

I keep forgetting this one's name, but he likes frisbees. Not to chase or catch them, but to steal them and hoard them.

Skippy likes him. Likes biting him, that is.

Very nice series. You would just have to watch where you knelt.

Thanks, Trev. Yes, landmines are an occupational hazard. You know what they say: always watch out for #1, and don't step in #2!

I love how you got so many of them to look directly at you. Nice series.

Thanks Tim. I actually prefer to be a fly on the wall, and let the dogs focus on each other, but there's no way around it when I'm using the 13mm: I have to get right in their faces, and it always gets their attention! I usually set the focus between 1 and 1.3m on the 30mm, and between 0.7 and 0.5m on the 13mm.

These are excellent! Great stop-action shots, lots of fun expressions, and your point of view is spot on. I would really like it if you posted your daily dog-park shots often!

Great Job!

Very nice work, scratchpaddy! Your backgrounds are much cleaner and the photos have an almost 'portrait'-like quality.
Great expressions and action, too.

Aww, thanks! I don't go there every day, and the camera's not always with me, but I'll start posting these more often, if you like them.

Thanks Ron - I've been keeping your tips in mind. The wide angle really keeps the fences way back, out of the viewer's attention. I still cut dogs off at the edges, but these are mostly just for fun.
