Yankee Stadium AKA- Evil Empire visit
Posted By: vievetrick, 04-03-2008, 11:37 AM

I made into the big city with some friends last night to watch the Yankees play the Jays 04/02/08. Some may remember I am a bit of a Red Sox fan so I of course, I was cheering for the Jays, and yes, I did wear the 2007 American League Champions Sox hat With Seats 4 rows from the dugout I had a great seat for lots of pictures and very little heckling for the hat

I had a great time and really enjoy Yankee Stadium (just dislike the team that plays there ) The House the Ruth built is in its final year of play so when asked if I was interested in going I jumped. The Jays prevailed and beat the Yanks 5-2 after a valiant attempt by the Yanks in the 9th.

I got home late and up early but took a few minutes to quickly play with a couple I thought looked good. I will post a few more later from Monument Park tonight or tomorrow. All shot with the Pentax K10.

I had to climb to the upper deck for a nice wide shot. Used my K10 and DA 16-45.

Arod put this one over the 408 mark in center field to get the Yanks 2 runs.

K10 Sigma 70-200 2.8
Exposure Time 1/750 sec
F-Number F2.8
Exposure Program Shutter priority
ISO Speed Ratings 800

Jeter ( Have to admit the one the few Yankees I like) tries with no luck to stretch a single into a double. He was out by a mile.
It is a smidge out of focus, or should I say the focus is on the umpire and not the player covering. I still like it.

K10 - Sigma 70-200 2.8
Exposure Time 1/350 sec
F-Number F4
Exposure Program Shutter priority
ISO Speed Ratings 800

Comments welcomed or enjoy

Very nice Series. I'm going up to Cleveland later this summer to watch the Indians (Boo) take on the Reds (YAY!) and your first shot gave me a good idea of what to look for while shooting. Just hope I have a long enough lens for where I'm sitting. Looking forward to seeing more as the season progresses.

Hi Pat- These shots are really good (the great seats must have helped too!). I'm not sure what the lighting situation was like, but you did well in my opinion. That last shot was good enough for an instant replay.

Avert your eyes! Lest you be struck by the evilness!

Great shots Pat. And no, a Boston hat will not get much comment in the House of Inequity, however I wouldn't want to tempt fate by doing the opposite, wearing a Yankmee hat in the Home of the Honorable. The Fenway Faithful would probably tear any one dumb enough to do that to pieces. I will say however that when the Yankmees won the home opener, people in my neighborhood set off fireworks.

That is a cool series, Pat. Again, I am always a fan of wider view showing the perspective - no 1 is my favorite

Thanks again all I will post a few more in another thread today. Salty, I am amazed at every game I go to at Fenway no matter who they are playing there is always one or two brave/crazy souls that wear thier yankee gear. I honestly think it depends on the seats you have and the score of the game what kind of heckling you will get. This is why I felt the need to wear my hat

Roen - I had a time to process the rest of the shots and here is a little redo of the stands shot.

Nice pics. I am proud to say I have worn my Yankees cap (twice) in Fenway, and lived to tell about it, and actually left the game with my hat. I have also worn my Cowboys cap and sweatshirt at RFK and FedEx field. Everytime I wear my Cowboys stuff at FedEx, my younger son always says......"Don't start anything." I tell him that I don't ever start it, but I ain't backing down either.

Great shots Pat - the A-rod one is wonderfull timing. I am afraid Yankee Standium will be a place I will not get to see - been to a few parks over the years. Nice shooting.

Nice shots. Always hated the yanks even when I lived in CT and worked in NJ. Boston all the way again. Impressive shots with that 70-200 lens.

Go Jays Go

I see someone else chears for the Blue Jays.

Have a laugh at this.
1985 ALCS Game 5 against the Royals.
It snowed during the game. Welcom to Canada EH!

Shot with Pentax KX and Vivitar 400mm F5.6 from a LONG way away at the old CNE Stadium from the grandstand in center field. probably 450 feet from home plate.

Shot on Tri-X 400 pushed to 800
