Marsh Bits
Lens: DA*300mm Camera: K-5
Posted By: slowpez, 11-24-2013, 08:25 AM

The marsh grass was gorgeous this time of year. Should have taken the 300 off and used a wide-angle but I was afraid I would miss something.

Of course, there are always gators in the grass. This guy was a bit too close for comfort but some nice lady went out of her way to tell me he was there so I felt I had to take a quick shot and then run.

This octopus somehow got himself trapped a low tide and he collected a crowd of photographers so it was hard to get a decent shot of. A real rarity here.

I think gators will eat anything but the octopus was so mired in what we call ploof (you probably call it quicksand) that I doubt the gator could have gotten to him.

Thanks Jer. I like that one too although my husband didn't think it was worth pixels.

Nice photos! And funny you should mention being afraid to remove the DA*300 and missing something. Yesterday morning I was wandering around the grounds of a beach hotel where I spent the weekend. I had decided to swap out the DA* 300 for my 35mm macro to get some spider and flower shots when a two-and-a-half foot iguana dropped 25 ft from a nearby tree and landed with a thump about 10 ft from me. He scrambled to the top of a wall nearby to think for a minute but then he was gone. I hate it when that happens!

Oh Susan these are gorgeous. The thing about using the lens you have on the camera is you get to see things in new ways. I love how the 300 "see" …the third is most especially stunning.
