K-3 and 60-250 do college football finals : Vanier Cup

A great day for some football! Snow, 35 km/h winds, that's how it goes!

It was my first attempt at sports with the K-3. I had to experiment with the multiple new AF settings (coming from the K20D). I finally settled for AF-C, select (normally in the center) and high speed burst mode. Pretty good results if you ask me Oh, and high-ISO was a blessing. Metering never let me down.

Enjoy!

And for the record, my team (the red shirts) won by a fair margin. Go Laval Go!

Those are fun. I'd suggest you jack up the ISO more so you can hit a minimum shutter of 1/500. The quality improvement on the ones that are faster than 1/500 is noticeable. You can easily go to ISO 6400 with the K-3 if not 12,800.

Yep. Apparently it was worse last week for the semifinals in Calgary, but seeing several players on the field in short sleeves made me shiver.

You are right, I confess that being caught up in the game I did not look at my shutter speed as the lights went down. ISO 2500 served me well though. And sometimes I kind of like the blurred motion effect, it ads to the feeling of being there.

What metering mode you use center weighted or matrix metering?

I believe at the time I used matrix, but nowadays with the K-3 I almost always use center-weighted.
