Nor here. Florida has more than 100 different plate designs (support this cause or team or whatever), and they are pricey, but the personalized plates are even more so. And you pay the fee every year at renewal.

You can't get total personal customisable plates here, those like DB 1 cost a lottery win.

We call 'em vanity plates here in Texas. A few years ago, I got one for my sports car with (I think) a clever allusion to the car's character and builder. It cost a 190 bucks US, which I assumed (not reading the fine print) was a one-time extortion and that my yearly registration would revert to the usual 65 dollars or so once a year had passed. Not true ; I get to pay the 190 every year. I couldn't make myself give them up, so they're still with me - on a new car from the same manufacturer. Makes no sense - but, I ain't getting any younger and you can't take it with you.

Ah, Jer, you gotta read the fine print! As long as you are happy with them, that's all that matters.

personalized plates are pretty reasonable in the Pacific Northwet (WA), an extra $30 something annually, and you are designating the extra to go towards specified funds in some cases, like a conservation fund. Worthwhile, in my opinion. And in my case, I have my user ID as my plate :-)
