Little red flower
Lens: Pentax DA 50-200mm f4 Camera: K-30 Photo Location: Backyard ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F9.5

As some of you know I'm having surgery on my eyes to remove the cataracts and have new lenses installed. The end of November they did my left eye. Though it's still a little swollen, it's much better than my previous vision was. I went out this afternoon to test my new eye and capabilities of manual focus. Here is the result:

And colors much brighter. Whites are white and not pale yellow.

Btw, shutter speed was 1/400s and aperture f9.

I'd say your "eyes have it. " The focus is great - indeed, the combination of selective focus and rich color makes this shot special. Very nicely done - and heal up soon.

Beautiful and spot on for focus. The colors are just out of this world.
Take care of yourself!

P.s. my Mom had this procedure done. Do you get to wear the super dark sunglasses when outside?

Thanks for the comments and the well wishes on the surgery. I hope by Christmas I will have 20/20 vision but the doctors said today I'd probably need glasses to read with or see up close.

As for wearing sunglasses that really dark, no, just ordinary uv blocking sunglasses. I only have to wear them in bright sunlight, but I do have to wear a plastic patch when I sleep to keep myself from rubbing the operated eye. Next week when they do the right eye, I'll have to wear two patches, one for each eye.

This is such a beautiful image… the warm tones and lovely flower make it special. Excellent focus and bokeh too.

Lovely image. Glad to hear (and see) you are on the mend. I also have that too look forward to but the doc wants to wait a bit. Thank heavens the procedure is so much easier than it used to be.

Susan thanks. Yes, I like the new lasik surgery. I was wide awake during all of it and never felt any pain. The only thing I noticed during surgery was I could hear the tool removing the cataracts. It wasn't a loud noise though. And the whole procedure was never unpleasant. I've happy with the results so far. Can't wait to get the right eye done, it's actually my shooting eye. Procedure probably took all of ten minutes.

Thanks Iris. I am. Now I know it is in focus.

Shooting and in focus will get better once the other eye is operated on. Then I can really tell if the object is in focus or not.
