Sunset above the roof.
Posted By: clarenceclose, 01-19-2007, 05:21 PM

They have built a subdivision around us. Where we once lived in the country and listened to sprinklers in the wheat fields and the bark of a fox in the winter, it has now been replaced with the sound of engines, barking dogs and visual clutter.

I took this sunset but cropped off the tops of the houses. See if it works for you.

A really great photo, but IMO the crop takes away from the composition. Mind posting the original?

It is a nice dramatic sky. However, there is a hint that something is missing due to the crop.

It looked like you were trying to crop out a large building to the left side of the photo there?

I like the colour, but as the other two have enquired - something is missing. Can't put a finger on it.

Maybe because part of a tree is at the bottom, we might be looking for some land as a point of reference?

I agree it seems to lack a point of interest since you cropped it. I love the colors of the sunset.

OK got me on this one as it is a panorama blend of multiple photos but I got some poor splicing of the colors so if you can tolerate the less than optimum splicing, attached is the shot.

This one is nice, a good darkening there within the frame. Great mood.

I agree, something is missing. I know you don't like to subtract but think it might be time to make heavy use of the cloning tool.

Thank you all.

Ken I need to know what you think would benefit from the cloning tool, 1st shot or 2nd shot? And what in the shot?
