Jalama Beach
Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: near Lompoc, CA

I haven't posted many pictures on here in a while. Here are several from a recent detour I took while driving from Santa Maria to Los Angeles. Jalama State Beach lies at the end of a 14 mile dead-end road that leads from Highway 1. The turnoff is to the left as you drive north just beyond Gaviota Pass, a few miles after you exit 101 for the 1. If you're ever in the area and have time, check it out. The beach is miles long and you probably won't have to share it with more than a hundred people. It's like much of the California coast must have looked 100 years ago.

Nice series Jerry. Seagulls are great birds to practice on.

What a great group of photos, Jerry. Thanks for letting us see this pristine-looking area.

Gorgeous stretch of beach GeoJerry. The colors are so rich. I like the fourth one a lot with the footprints in the sand and the seaweed washed up onto the shore.

Thanks Bob… of all the people posting on here, I thought you were the one most likely to have seen this place.

I'm not normally big on heavy digital filters but the effect really works well here! Especially the first and fourth ones. They do look like paintings.

Thanks for your comments! I do like to experiment with different effects and like what this one does. In case you're interested in trying it out, all but the last were processed using Topaz Simplify.
