Soar like an Eagle
Lens: 18-250mm Camera: K 5 Photo Location: Nevada
Posted By: Bob Harris, 12-10-2013, 09:25 PM

I was sitting outside the motorhome, just relaxing and in the distance could hear what sounded like an out of tune lawn mower. A minute later this paraglider flies overhead and seems to be observing us and probably wondering why anyone would be camping out in the desert. I picked up the camera and took some images as he flew west.

Hi Bob, besides stating that these are great shots I just wanted to let you know that sentences like above can be quite depressing to folks who have to work ... right now in China again!

Best wishes!

I see these things now and again around here - I guess if you've got no mountains from which to alight, then you gotta bring your own juice.

That last shot is fine, indeed, buddy.

Great images, but hey it looks like a flying hair dryer, so how safe are these contraptions?

Jer, you being a car guy would recognize the sound of out of tune right away, I think he was flying on a prayer

I don't know to be honest and I'm not going to find out either. I enjoy the ground and a view looking up, not down.

Awesome! I really like that last one, too. Looks like things could get a little dicey on the landing, what with a lawn mower strapped to his back and all.

I guess they are safe, but the engine just didn't sound right to me. If I was cutting the lawn and the mower sounded like the kite, I'd shut it off and do some repairs.
