Man, that first one is really something - the tonal variations really work: not blatant but not quite subtle. Hits the spot to my eye.

That tonal variation took +2 saturation in Aperture to bring out. At first i was wondering if there was some secret Black and WHite button that I'd pushed by accident.

The Madawaska was known by the Native Americans as "the RIver that never freezes" although that isn't what Madawaska means, Madawaska is some other Native name who's derivation is not known for certain... Between here and Ottawa the River it drops 600 feet, with much of that drop within 100 km of my house. So there are a lot of stretches like this one, that never freeze.
