I like the symmetry of the composition and the sinuous curved line that separates the light and dark side of what I presume is a dune. Neat stuff.

Love the clean lines and the trees being there are essential for the scale otherwise it would have been very hard to tell. Excellent shot.

Thanks for the comments! The main problem here was to get good light. The sun climbs high really quickly, and there's a good drive from the gate (which opens at sunrise) to the dunes. And the gate closes again at sunset, so you don't want to get back too late...

That said, it's a place well worth visiting. I find the dry landscapes of Namibia both beautiful and very different from anywhere else I've ever been.

Well, at least you are better situated for a visit than most of us.

Thanks! It's not until you start climbing (in 40C temperature) that you realise just how big they are.

Great shot, I'm partial to odd sand dune myself, in fact it was them that started me off on Pentax LXs after sand ate my Nikon F3s.

Thanks And I really thought the Fs could handle a bit of grit!

Thanks! It's very hard to guess the height, but I've seen estimates varying from 100 to 170 m for this one. The biggest ones are 250-300 m tall (can vary quite a bit). The one thing I'm sure of is that they look nice and innocent from a distance, quite big from close up, and immensely tall when climbing them - sweat pouring and legs aching!

Aye me too, but the dust seals on the LXs proved to be more robust than those on the F3s.
