Got Milk?
Posted By: weatherwise2, 04-06-2008, 06:43 PM

I actually need some help in getting good photos on this place.

It is abandoned and off a busy highway and tucked in relatively close to other buildings, including a gas station with large signs. I have been there at morning and dusk (it is on my commute) and none of the "magic hour lights" seem to do anything since there is other trees or other structures relatively tall nearby. Any ideas?

This is the best I can do without spending hours on it.

Something that I had a hard time dealing with was a very strange neon green and neon magenta halo around the building. I have no idea where they came from.

I wish I had a DNG to work with.... but this is what I have so far. (Knowing me I will be up all night tweaking)

A little bit more "milk bottle ish"

Made the building a bit more white against the dark background.

Saddly those have a lot of photochopping in them... not really "real" photography.

My changes are very similar to what the CPL will do for you.

I think you should re-shoot regardless.

Thanks for the effort. It is a lesson in what can be done with photo. I will try to get a better picture and am carrying my camera more on my commute.

Looking forward to future shots of the building

On a side note... if you are intending on using it for what you mentioned to me .... you should shoot in RAW mode not JPG

Plus if you do shoot in RAW I can help you play with the shot a lot more if you want.
