Fireworks and the 43
Lens: 43mm Camera: K5 Photo Location: Nevada
Posted By: Bob Harris, 01-01-2014, 12:29 AM

I was hoping to get a spot further back at the park for taking photos of the fireworks with the 70mm, but the only spot was closer up and luckily brought the 43mm which was a good fit for photos but way too loud for us. Happy New Year to all.

A very well captured series of shots. Must have been a great celebration where you were.

Happy New Year, brother Bob. These are wonderful - I've never tried this, something I should put on the list. Is that 43 a Christmas present or have you had it for awhile?

You got some pretty cool effects there Bob! What shutter speed were you using on these?

Beautiful Series!

Hi Bob, great series of fireworks! One of my favorite subjects to shoot, in fact last night I went to the downtown mall to photograph the 'early' set, they had a display at 9:00pm (the one I went to) and, of course, again at midnight.
That 43 really renders beautifully, the colors pop and everything is sharp and clear.
Fine work!

We are in a smaller town EM, but they always go big with fireworks.

I've had the 43 for quite a while now Jer, I love this lens, my favorite that I use a lot on landscapes. I asked for a new Corvette, but didn't get it again this year. It seems you can't tow them well behind a motorhome, so I will live with thoughts of sugar plums dancing in my head.

Nice shoots. Interesting exposure time. You used a cable release?

Here are a few of my own.

This last one is a blend of other exposures.

Yes, cable release/remote trigger used. You got some beautiful colors. I use a longer SS so that the trailing end of the firework can be seen and new launches are included in the photo.
