Looking Back and Forth
Lens: 18-250mm Camera: K5 Photo Location: CO and NM
Posted By: Bob Harris, 01-02-2014, 08:52 PM

We pulled into a RV park in Raton Pass NM, elevation 7800' and drove up the mountain for a view of Capulin Volcano in New Mexico which is about 50 miles from our location and at an elevation of 8100'. Having time on our hands we drove to the volcano the next day, which was very interesting to view and took a photo of our original viewing location from up on the cone, looking back towards Raton Pass. Life is good being retired and on the road full time in our RV, we always have a different backyard and don't have to mow the grass. Capulin Volcano National Monument (U.S. National Park Service)

You sure are livin' the life, Bob! I really like that third one. It's cool to be able actually see the place you came from, way way off in the distance. It's not something I ever really got to do, growing up around Atlanta. The trees always get in the way!

on our travels back East, sometimes all we would see were trees, nothing but trees and you had to find a higher elevation to even see any of the landscapes. Quite a difference from our wide open s/w for sure.

Amazing backyards Bob. Love the varying perspectives. Thanks for sharing your travels with those of us owned by our lawnmowers (and shovels)!

Very nice landscapes, buddy. I don't remember ever hearing of the Capulin Volcano, although it is quite possible I actually visited the place during one of our family trips out west when I was a boy.

I had a little help with the sun location on that one, the other was with the sun right in my face, thanks Norbert.

One nice thing about traveling as we do Tess, if you get tired of the area, just leave and go somewhere else. We try to stay in decent weather areas and the main thing is to stay away from snow, wouldn't want to buy coat at my old age you know.
