A Wye Valley Series
Posted By: Dr Orloff, 01-06-2014, 08:34 AM

There has been a lot of rain in the UK recently, where I spent a couple of weeks over the Christmas holidays. Flooding is unfortunate for many but it is photogenic. These were taken early one morning in the Wye Valley on the borders of England and Wales. The Abbey was a separate visit in late morning hazy sun. K5 and 12-24 apart from the last, K30/2.8 (stitched).

Bigsweir Bridge 2

Muddy Track

Bursting The Banks

Tree With Crow

Tintern Abbey

Beautiful shots Doc, similar to effect with meniscus lenses.

Wonderful series, but "A466" is really special to my eyes--the road's little jog to the left before heading into the dawn is just perfect. Otherwise, a beautful part of the world--I've spent a little time fishing on the Usk, and wish I had had much more time to wander afield.

Thanks, that road one does seem to have caught the imagination as it made page 2 of 500pix. Surprisingly as I think it needs a vintage motorbike or something. It was just the quickly taken snap on the way home, didn't even get the tripod out.

These are splendid - truly evocative - terrific subjects, compositions and PP.

I used to live in that area, a little village called Vowchurch, about 10 miles from Hereford.
Cheers, Pickles.

Thanks for the comments. Glad you enjoyed the images. I'm working on some mono versions from the shoot which I'll post up later.

Fantastic series. Lots of water for sure. Love the misty shots and green grass well done.

They're all superb but A466 goes beyond that and is sublime.

Excellent and "ghostly" images. Great work.
