Beautiful cars. Nice shots except that the e-type doesn't look sharp to me?

Hmm, you're right - but it's the only one I have. Don't click it bigger :-)

No worries - shame, because the E-type was my favourite. I've never been in one though, just various XJ6, XJ12 and XJS.

This exhibit ends Feb 14, so I probably won't reshoot unless they get some new exhibits beforehand:-)

Maybe this will help:

I bought a '87 XJS V12 Jag, just had to have it, such a beautiful car that started falling apart right away. The biggest waste of money I have ever spent, traded it the next year for an '88 Vette. The Jags are beautiful cars for sure inside and out but weren't dependable back in the day.

A good friend had two xj6's that you could break just by looking at them... The one had the water pump fail while it was just parked with engine off and had not been started for a week!

I had a red'65 Etype which constantly needed the 3 SU carburators tuning amongst other expensive visit to mechanics and when the V12 came out I had to have one of those(Definition of insanity, doing same thing over expecting different result) and back in 60's I had a British Racing green MG TF which looked very similar to 1937 Jag,wish I still had it.

Geez, I almost missed this one - I'm sure glad I didn't; great set of photos. It's tough to handle car photos in museums and car shows where a photographer's access is often pretty limited. You always do a great job of dealing with that difficulty and bring us good stuff.

That red E-Type is stunning - we called them XKEs back in the mid '60s when I was a teenager. The Jag, like the Cobra, Shelby Mustangs and - of course - the Corvette, were my major automotive idols, and way out of reach for a middle class 17 year old.

Yes, I've heard you need to own two so you can rotate the repairs, like Fiats (fix it again, Tony) and Lotus (lots of trouble, usually serious)...

Thanks! I called it the XKE as well, but was never a big fan of them.

Very nice shots. Jaguars were a favourite of mine when I was growing up. My father had a couple of Mk IIs and I was allowed to drive the second one when I got my licence at age 18. I was lucky enough to get taken for a drive in a beautifully restored SS100 a few years ago.

In the 1950s and 1960s they were reliable, but they needed to be serviced properly. We never had any problems with my father's MkIIs. I believe they are again these days. They certainly score well in the J.D. Power surveys. The 1980s they could be diabolical. It looks like you were unfortunate to land right in the middle of their worst period.

Richard.
