Deer hunting...
Posted By: Tom Lusk, 01-21-2007, 12:52 PM

I went deer hunting this morning- the first time in a couple of weeks.

The deer were really spooky and with the crunchy snow making so much noise , it was hard to get anywhere near them.

Here's a doe that saw me before I saw her:

If anyone ever wondered where the old expression "hightailing" came from, I estimate her tail was 10-12 feet in the air.

I saw several bucks, but this is as open a shot as I could manage:

A lovely day to be in the woods, but cold.

LOL - Jack rabbits tend to do the same thing too, just their tails aren't anywhere close to that high!
Nice shots!

Congratulations! The first one is great shot!
I also like the look on the second photo.

I think they are both great shots. The first one really got the action and the second one is a great peek-a-boo shot. Those are some well polished antlers.

Your exposure on that first one is perfect. The second is also very good. I like how the buck is looking between the trees in this.

I think I need to take some notes from you on photographing deer. I can't get anywhere near them to even attempt a shot.

Very nicely done, Tom.

Hi Tom. The first shot definitely has the momentum - sharp and in focus with a little bit of motion blurr. Great impact with that shot!

The 2nd one reveals the kind of peeping behaviour. I found it cute.

Nice shots!
