Just back from 5 weeks in "the land of the long white cloud". Not strictly a holiday but was free for about 2 weeks overall and of course shot plenty of photos, around 1800 clicks on the K-5 plus a few with the Q. (Plus another few hundred for some events I was involved in.) From that I got around a hundred keepers, of which I'd like to share a few.
Weather and light weren't the greatest for photography on our flight from Auckland to Christchurch, but I did get a glimpse of Mt. Taranaki (AKA Mt. Egmont) peeking through the clouds. 50% crop from the Q+01 Prime:
Spent the first night at Governors Bay, where we had this view up Lyttleton Harbour. M75-150 at 150mm:
Then on to Lake Tekapo, where I had this evening view of lupines at Mt. John. Combined exposures with the A24/2.8:
This area is a dark sky reserve and I was hoping to deploy the O-GPS1, but night skies were cloudy during our stay. Oh well!
Onward to Aoraki/Mt. Cook, where we were lucky to have excellent weather on our one full day in the park. A24/2.8 again (incorrectly recorded as 28mm in EXIF):
I liked this spot so well I went back later in the day. Same lens, left side cropped off:
Making our way south we had lots of great views, and some interesting weather too. Again, the trusty A24/2.8:
Down to Milford Sound and the iconic Mitre Peak. FA50/1.4:
It's a rain forest, with lots of the wonderfully primitive looking tree ferns. A24/2.8:
Thanks for stopping by! Part 2 will be more wildlife oriented.
