Very nice processing on a composition that shows off the beauty of this machine.

They really are beautiful, but I could not imagine what it would have been like to be in one during the war. We did the tour of inside and wow, lot of history throughout.

Aircraft aluminium, at least in the wings, fuselage and engine cowlings. Stainless steel is strong, but too heavy to fly.

To the OP - nice shot! I saw the B17 "Sally B" flying at Duxford back in 2002. One of the special aspects of the experience was the sound of the four engines. I can only imagine what it sounded like with entire squadrons of B17s in flight.

The sound of a squadron would be great to hear.

I had a flight in a B-17 and B-25 at Clarke Field in Seattle a couple of years ago. I should post some pics.

Great shot, just love the blade part number information on it, just in case you want to pop in to the "auto part" store for a spare one.

Is that the Aluminum Overcast? She flies in once a year here. Gorgeous bird.

Just an outstanding detail shot - I dig everything: composition and the muted PP. Great job.

Thanks for looking everyone! I'm glad you all enjoyed this shot. Turns out this is actually a OOC jpeg, just with a muted output from LR. I think it was shortly after this I started shooting RAW.

When I have more time, I will try to make something out of the rest of the shots I took.

This was the "Sentimental Journey". Those photos of the "Aluminum Overcast" are really good!

Sadly, there aren't anymore that I am happy with. They were showing the aircraft until 6pm and we arrived at 550pm. The sun was setting as we arrived, so I had to shoot quick, and with a high ISO. This was ISO 800, almost all of my other shots are 3200. Then I started using the on camera flash and didn't realize that with the 18-135, at 18mm the hood shadow is pretty evident. Of course I found that out at home, after the plane had flew away (forever).
