Street Photography outing
Posted By: Voe, 04-12-2008, 12:17 AM

Hi all,
Today me and James went out in Melbourne city to take some street photos.
I was using my Jupiter-9 85mm f/2 as the main walk around lens allowing me to take some candid peoples shots. I also used my 21mm Limited here and there.
I continue to be impressed with the Jupiter-9, stopped down from f/2.8 and on it is sharper than my 77mm Limited (please do not kill me for saying this).

Bellow I have posted some shots from today they are nothing the be proud of but they are not too bad I guess..

The following shots were taken with Jupiter-9:

This is about a 50% crop of the original:

Bokeh example at f/2.8:

This is an f/4 shot:

This shot was out of focus but just because I find it hilarious I decided to sharpen it a little and post it here.

Same guy

"V" for Vendeta masked guys

The V guys and a busy bokeh which I kind of enjoy. This shot was taken at f/2.8

Tiny jolly rogers

The way to look at this not so interesting photo is to look at the upper right corner and then look at the bottom left corner

All right.. here are some shots from my 21 Limited....

I know, I know... lots of blown out highlights... but I still like this shot.

Same as above.

I hope you liked it..

P.S. James if you read this, thank you for encouraging me to post these photos.

Voe, great shots btw. I had no time to process mine at the moment but will do so in a few days' time.

The old man sitting in the chair really works out in the final image, doesn't it?

My shot did not capture his face front on. He does look great in street shooting. Some of these people really do pose for you. A fun day

The wide angle shot on the cyclists was well done though I have a shot exactly looking like that :P You stole my spotlight.

p.s. Why don't you try B+W or sepia toning to get different desired effects on these shots

Hi James,

Thanks for your comments.

Here are some experiments with BW conversion. I also added some "film noise" (next two images).

The three horsemen...I like the shapes of their shadows (especially the one in the middle)..

Saturday delight..

A shot from St. Peter church in Melbourne city.
